Castel Volturno – A blind, disproportionate attack, unleashed by a gang feeling all-powerful against a defenseless victim. This is the story of an afternoon of terror in Castel Volturno, which today sees the investigation close with the execution of five precautionary measures.
The State Police dismantled the group of attackers, composed entirely of young Italians: two adults and three minors. They are accused of carrying out a veritable predatory attack against a peer of Egyptian origin, "guilty" only of wearing a silver chain that had attracted the group's attention.
The dynamics of the raid
The events date back to last September. According to investigators' reconstruction, the gang acted with the methods of seasoned criminals. They surrounded the victim, preventing him from escaping. They didn't just snatch the necklace: the attack was brutal, accompanied by physical beatings and, even more disturbing, the threat of a weapon. A gun was pointed at the boy to terrorize him and ensure he wouldn't fight back while they were stripped of his belongings.
Investigations and arrests
The investigation, conducted quickly and effectively by officers from the Castel Volturno Police Station, led to the identification of all members of the gang. The investigation was coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere and the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office of Naples, highlighting the seriousness of the circumstantial evidence.
The two adults were sent to prison: the Preliminary Investigations Judge ordered their pre-trial detention. The three minor accomplices faced a different fate, having been placed in rehabilitation centers. All members of the gang face extremely serious charges: they will face charges of robbery, menacing, and aggravated assault.
