Naples – Justice has been brought to book for the daring robbery committed against an elderly businessman in Vomero, who was robbed of over €10.000 in takings just as he was leaving his home to go to the bank.

Diego Febbraro and Salvatore Fiorentino, already arrested last January, received first-degree convictions, handed down by preliminary investigations judge Bardi at the end of the summary trial.

Although the Public Prosecutor's (PM) requests had been slightly more lenient for one of the defendants, the judge imposed significant sentences for both those responsible for the crime, which was aggravated by the use of weapons and the masking of their faces.

Diego Febbraro managed to partially limit the damage: he was sentenced to 4 years and 4 months in prison, despite being charged with a specific repeat offense. The prosecutor had requested 5 years and 6 months.

The co-defendant, Salvatore Fiorentino, assisted by lawyer Enrico Tucci, instead received a sentence of 3 years and 8 months, surprisingly two months more than the Prosecutor's request.

The ambush and the escape: a failed plan

The incident occurred on the premises of the victim's home, an 84-year-old man. The criminals had waited until the man was about to leave to deposit the proceeds from his business. Using violence and gunpoint, they managed to steal the large sum of money.

The escape took place aboard a car bearing a license plate stolen in the previous days, an attempt to mislead the suspects which, as has been demonstrated, was not enough.

The precautionary measure executed in recent months was based on a complex investigative effort that exploited technology. Analysis of license plate and transit systems and a thorough examination of video surveillance footage from the neighborhood allowed the robbers to reconstruct their movements.

During the summary hearing, Febbraro's defense argued that their client's face had never been captured on camera. However, the decisive and "betrayal" factor was the getaway car itself: a vehicle registered to a relative of the defendant. This detail, combined with other evidence gathered, allowed investigators to close the case and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Antonio Di Gisi So your "therefore"-based intervention is pointless! It sounds like a parrot repeating the same word over and over again.
