Turkish football is rocked by an unprecedented wave of judicial scrutiny. The Istanbul Prosecutor's Office has issued a series of arrest warrants targeting dozens of players, officials, and prominent figures in the national football movement, as part of the investigation into the vast betting scandal that has rocked the country for weeks.
In the dawn raid on Friday, police also arrested two prominent footballers: Mert Hakan Yandas of Fenerbahce and Metehan Baltaci of Galatasaray, the reigning Turkish champions. The DHA news agency reported that those detained also include former referee and commentator Ahmet Cakar and current referee Zorbay Kucuk.

The investigation into the betting scandal in Turkey is truly worrying. It's incredible how so many players and officials are implicated. I hope the truth comes out and that football can recover from this situation.
