Marano di Napoli – A trail of blood extending from the elevator into the rooms of an apartment transformed into a prison. This is the scene, worthy of a horror film, that the Carabinieri of the Marano branch found at 2:40 a.m. this morning.

The swift and decisive intervention put an end to a nightmare of torture, drugs, and unspeakable violence perpetrated by a 47-year-old nurse and operating room assistant against his 40-year-old partner.

The blitz in the night

The alarm was raised from the operations center: heart-rending screams and thumping noises could be heard over the phone. The address was not new to law enforcement; a couple with a history of abuse lived there, and the "Code Red" had already been activated, but evidently it hadn't been enough to stop the spiral of violence.

When the Gazelle arrived at the residential complex, the officers immediately realized the gravity of the situation. The elevator door was smeared, the inside of the cabin was stained with blood, as were the landing and the apartment doorknob.

From inside, the man's voice tries in vain to drown out the woman's cries: "What do you want?! What did you come for? Get out!" The police don't hesitate: the door opens just wide enough for them to burst in. The 47-year-old tries to physically resist, but is subdued within seconds.

The horror story

The interior scene is horrifying. Strands of hair are scattered across the floor and even in the garbage can, torn out with unspeakable violence. Blood is everywhere.

The woman, bleeding and terrified, finds the strength to speak as the 118 medics administer first aid: "Help me, I'm scared, this guy is going to kill me today. He's been beating me since this morning, forcing me to take a sedative to relax me and forget what we're doing."

The investigation uncovers a disturbing picture linked to the attacker's profession. Taking advantage of his position at a Neapolitan hospital, the man had stolen a veritable arsenal of pharmaceuticals: bottles of sedatives, benzodiazepine-based anti-anxiety medications, and tourniquets. The plan was diabolical: to drug the victim, rendering him helpless and manipulable, while he operated under the influence of cocaine, alternating between moments of chemical lucidity and outbursts of uncontrollable rage.

Torture with the scalpel

The medical report is a war bulletin: extensive bruising on her legs, arms, and face, clear signs of strangulation on her neck, and a stab wound on the palm of her left hand. The man had repeatedly hit her with a metal canteen and, in an escalation of sadism, had injured her using a surgical scalpel, which had also been taken from the medical facility and confiscated by the military.

The woman's initial prognosis is 20 days due to multiple bruises and a fractured rib, but further medical examinations will be necessary. The 47-year-old was arrested and transferred to Poggioreale prison, pending validation by the investigating judge.
