A major environmental police operation was conducted this morning by the Naples Naval Station of the Guardia di Finanza and the Port Authority – Coast Guard of Castellammare di Stabia, culminating in the seizure of an area of approximately 1.000 square meters in the municipality of Meta di Sorrento.
The intervention sealed off the so-called "former Quarry" area, entrusted to the company responsible for the door-to-door collection and transportation of solid urban waste on the Sorrento Peninsula.
From logistics to illegal storage
The raid was carried out to verify the company's compliance with environmental regulations. From a document review, the officers determined that the mayoral ordinance authorized the area exclusively for logistics activities and as an operational hub for vehicles, strictly prohibiting the storage of any type of waste.
The reality on the ground, however, was quite different. During the inspection, law enforcement officials found that the area had been transformed into a full-fledged waste collection and storage center, completely disregarding the City Administration's orders.
Not just uncontrolled dumping: the investigations also revealed serious environmental damage related to water management. It was discovered that runoff from the yard was being discharged directly into the rainwater collection system, without any authorization and, more importantly, without any purification treatment.
Report and Seizure
Following the violations found, the Guardia di Finanza and the Coast Guard proceeded to seize the entire area.

Uncontrolled storage of non-hazardous waste.
Illegal discharge of wastewater from the drainage area without authorization.
Failure to comply with the provisions issued by the Civic Administration.
The operation is part of a broader set of controls aimed at protecting the environment in the delicate and precious area of the Sorrento Peninsula.
