Naples: Drug courier caught by police at Ponti Rossi

The 29-year-old was arrested after two street "deliveries": the keys on the scooter led to an apartment/workshop. A 58-year-old was also arrested after being found with drugs on his hands and nearly €5 in cash.

Naples – Quick deliveries by scooter between Ponti Rossi and Calata Capodichino, just like a regular delivery man. Except instead of packages, there were drugs. That's why, yesterday afternoon, the State Police arrested two men, aged 29 and 58, both Neapolitans and already known to law enforcement, on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Officers from the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station, engaged in an anti-drug operation, were driving along Via Bernardino Telesio, in the San Carlo all'Arena neighborhood, when they noticed the 29-year-old man suspiciously exiting an apartment and getting on a scooter. The man's behavior immediately aroused the officers' suspicions, and they decided to follow him from a distance.

The young man's route turned into a mini-delivery round. On Via Nicolini, the 29-year-old was seen approaching a person and exchanging a small package for money. A few minutes later, the same scenario was repeated in the Calata Capodichino area, with another individual: money on one side, drugs on the other.

At that point, the officers intervened and stopped the scooter rider, who turned out to be a real drug mule. They found a set of keys on him, which later turned out to belong to the apartment he had left shortly before. This detail prompted the police to extend their searches inside the home.

When officers entered the home, they found the 58-year-old man with his hands literally covered in drugs. The search resulted in the seizure of a veritable stash: approximately 2,2 kilos of hashish, 1 kilo of marijuana, packaging materials, and €4.880 in cash, divided into various denominations, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.

Both were placed in handcuffs. The two suspects were arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities, who will now evaluate their position in light of the serious evidence gathered by the State Police.
