A Posillipo A problem that has been worrying residents and visitors to the scenic area of Via Catullo for months is back in the spotlight. Right next to the overlook railing, a deep crack runs through the sidewalk and continues to widen, transforming a simple crack into a potential hazard for those walking along the stretch overlooking the empty space. The area had previously been cordoned off with tape, but the reports were not followed up, and today the problem appears even more evident.
Green-Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who received a citizen's complaint, describes the situation as urgent. Exposing the crack to the elements, he emphasizes, risks worsening the damage: rainwater can infiltrate the pavement and contribute to a progressive weakening of the structure, with unpredictable consequences for pedestrians and the stability of the overlook itself.
This concern is also shared by the Europa Verde councilors of the Municipality, Lorenzo Pascucci and Gianni Caselli, who are calling for an urgent inspection by the relevant authorities. The request stems from the awareness that Via Catullo is one of the busiest areas of the neighborhood, and leaving such a visible problem unresolved exposes residents and tourists to avoidable risks. The priority, they reiterate, is to check the integrity of the sidewalk and railings in order to plan a safety intervention.
Borrelli concludes with an appeal to the administration, urging it to act quickly to restore the area and monitor the neighborhood's structural issues more closely. Citizen cooperation, he adds, remains essential to highlight issues that otherwise risk being overlooked. Posillipo, he concludes, cannot allow a symbolic place to become the scene of announced and ignored dangers.
