An explosion of color invaded the Pozzuoli dock, increasingly affected by the rising ground that in recent months has reduced it to a nearly dry basin. Hundreds of flowers were thrown into the water by Pozzuoli merchants as a "symbol of the fight against bradyseism and of the rebirth of our city," a simple yet powerful act in a place that once offered shelter to fishermen at the foot of the Rione Terra district and which today is one of the most tangible symbols of the seismic crisis.
The "Darsena Pozzuoli" committee, founded four years ago and now increasingly a point of reference for operators in the area, explains the reasons behind the initiative: "The initiative is an opportunity to send a positive message in light of the economic and social crisis affecting the area following the seismic events of the last two years." The symbolic action comes at a time when many businesses are dealing with drops in footfall and widespread fears, made even more evident by the recent tremors.

The committee also announced a calendar of artistic and musical events, organized through a self-funding campaign and designed to accompany the Christmas Eve aperitifs, an opportunity to bring people and vitality back to the area. After the flowers were thrown, mostly gerberas of various hues, the organizers displayed a banner reading: “Every flower is a root that has been able to resist.”
A message that sums up the spirit of the initiative: “Flowers are a symbol of resistance and rebirth. This is where we want to start to promote our land, our beloved city.” Despite everything, Pozzuoli thus reaffirms its desire to remain anchored to its roots and look forward with determination.
