Naples – Two specialists in headlight theft failed at dawn. Yesterday morning, around 9:00 a.m., officers from the Scampia and Secondigliano police stations arrested a 50-year-old and a 52-year-old Neapolitan man, both with extensive criminal records (including for identical crimes), on charges of aggravated theft and resisting a public officer.
It all started with a tip-off to the Operations Room: two suspicious individuals were wandering among the parked cars on Via Piedimonte d'Alife, an area adjacent to the Scampia metro station.
When the patrol cars arrived, the scene was clear: one of the two was stuffing a recently removed headlight into the trunk of a car, while his accomplice was behind the wheel, ready to drive off. Upon seeing the police, the criminals attempted to flee on foot, but after a frantic chase and a brief struggle, they were subdued. During the search, screwdrivers, pliers, and other burglary tools were found.
The two headlights, stolen from a car parked a few meters away, were immediately returned to their owner, who hadn't yet noticed the damage. The two arrested men, already known to law enforcement for similar thefts in the northern part of Naples, were taken to police headquarters pending validation. This is yet another successful raid by the territorial control unit in the city's busiest suburbs.

Cut off his hands
It's strange how there are always these people who try to steal, but I don't understand why they continue to do so even though they know the police will eventually catch them. Let's hope the situation improves with more controls.
