Striano – A large-scale operation against illegal activities linked to waste management has led the military of the Roccarainola Forestry Carabinieri Unit, with the support of the Army, to identify an uncontrolled deposit of hazardous waste inside a mechanical workshop located in the countryside of the Municipality of Striano.

During the inspection, law enforcement officers found a significant amount of material abandoned in the open and directly on the ground in an area adjacent to the building: ferrous metals, mechanical components, and vehicle parts, as well as canisters full of used oil. This situation prompted the Carabinieri to immediately classify the waste and carry out routine checks.

The owner of the workshop, a 42-year-old local resident, was charged with uncontrolled storage of hazardous waste. At the same time, the police seized the entire building, the outdoor area, and all materials found. He was also fined more than €5.000 for failing to register with the company register.

Further investigations on some car components found among the waste identified pieces that had been cut. A chassis number was recovered from one of them, which, through a database search, proved to belong to a stolen vehicle. For this reason, the 42-year-old was also charged with receiving stolen goods.

The operation confirms the Naples Carabinieri Forestry Group's strong commitment to combating illegal waste management practices, both by private individuals and businesses, with a constant commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring legality in the area.
