A tense afternoon in Polla, in the Vallo di Diano, where a suitcase abandoned near the hospital triggered a complex security operation. The bag, sealed with duct tape and placed along the perimeter wall of the hospital, right in front of some homes, aroused the suspicion of some passersby, who raised the alarm.

The Carabinieri of the Sala Consilina company immediately intervened on site, isolating the area and requesting the support of the bomb disposal team from Salerno.

The area has been cordoned off and secured, while residents have been asked to maintain their distance until the checks are completed.

The bomb squad then proceeded with a controlled explosion using microcharges, a standard procedure in situations where it's not possible to quickly determine the nature of the contents. Upon completion of the operation, a check of the suitcase revealed it was completely empty.

The provenance of the luggage and the reason why it was left in such a sensitive location remain unclear. The Carabinieri have launched investigations to reconstruct the circumstances and identify the person responsible for its abandonment.

The alarm, fortunately dismissed without consequences, nevertheless brought attention to the importance of timely reporting and the safety procedures implemented when suspicious objects are found in public areas.
