NAPLES – A sign of rebirth comes from Piazza Mercato, where "Le Muse" was inaugurated. This new multipurpose educational center, sponsored by Altra Napoli EF together with Asso.Gio.Ca, the Campo del Moricino School, the Sanitansamble EF Association, and the Il Cielo Itinerante Association, was inaugurated. The goal is clear: "to offer a beacon of education, creativity, and social inclusion" in a neighborhood rich in history but marked by profound fragility, supporting families and children against the phenomenon of school dropout.
The project is also supported by the L'Albero della Vita Foundation. The center, approximately 300 square meters, was created as a space dedicated to study, play, and socializing, in an area that continues to experience alarming numbers. In the 2023-2024 school year alone, according to data released by the Prefecture, 3.340 minors in the Naples metropolitan area dropped out of school, a figure that calls for a coordinated effort between institutions and the third sector.
"Inside 'Le Muse,' children find a safe, stimulating, and forward-looking place," explain the promoters, emphasizing how the center offers recreational and educational activities, parenting support programs, and meeting opportunities for families with children aged 0-6. For children and teens aged 6 to 16, after-school programs, afternoon workshops, themed spaces dedicated to reading, digital, arts, and sports, computer literacy courses, STEM programs, musical activities, and creative and audiovisual workshops are organized.
