Acerra, terror in Piazza Castello: 18-year-old arrested with stolen rifle, accomplice in trouble
Police apprehend an armed duo who threatened customers and the bartender at a bar. A stolen weapon was recovered under an overpass. Both young men have prior convictions.
On the night between Saturday and Sunday, Piazza Castello in Acerra became the scene of an incident of pure armed intimidation. An 18-year-old local man, already known to law enforcement, got off a scooter driven by his accomplice—also 18 with a criminal record—and threatened several patrons of a local bar with a brandished rifle.

The man, without warning, pointed the gun at a bar employee's head, causing panic among those present, before fleeing on his motorcycle. Officers from the Acerra Police Station, alerted by a report of "armed persons" near the business, promptly responded as part of their local patrols.
Thanks to the victims' descriptions and images from local video surveillance systems, investigators identified the two young men, who were located in their respective homes. The investigation led to the recovery of the weapon: a Winchester over-and-under shotgun with a cut barrel and modified stock, hidden under the San Giovanni overpass. The weapon, the proceeds of a theft reported last October in Minturno, in the province of Latina, was seized.
On Monday, the State Police arrested the first 18-year-old for illegal possession of an altered weapon and receiving stolen goods, aggravated by threats. The accomplice was charged with aggravated threats involving the use of a weapon and receiving stolen goods.

The incident in Acerra is deeply concerning and raises concerns about public safety. The young people involved had previous convictions, and this isn't good for the community. I hope more severe measures are taken.
