Tragedy struck on the afternoon of Wednesday the 31st in Acilia, a far southwest suburb of the capital. A 63-year-old Moldovan man died following a firecracker explosion on Via Cortemaggiore around 5:30 PM.
An ambulance arrived on the scene and found the man lying lifeless on the ground. The victim had serious injuries to his abdomen, face, and chest, as well as injuries to a limb consistent with a violent explosion. Attempts to resuscitate him by paramedics were unsuccessful.

According to an initial reconstruction, still being examined by investigators, the death was caused by the explosion of a firecracker, the nature of which has not yet been clarified.
The accident occurred on the street, in a residential area not far from the Ostia coast.
The Carabinieri of the Ostia branch are investigating the incident, reconstructing the exact circumstances of the incident and determining the circumstances under which the man came into contact with the explosive device.
