Afragola - A nighttime operation by the Carabinieri uncovered an alleged illicit business in the heart of the Salicelle district of Afragola. Five people, all members of the same family, were charged at large following a raid that seized a record sum of cash, luxury watches, credit cards, and weapons.
The raid took place at the home where the family members live. Officers from the Arzano and Afragola police stations conducted a search that proved extremely fruitful.
The loot under the mattress
The most shocking discovery concerns the money: a staggering €204,000 in cash, the possession of which has not been accounted for. Adding to the value of the seizure are the presence of six luxury Rolex watches and a surprising quantity of 21 credit and debit cards, the provenance of which is now being investigated by investigators.
The five charged are a 72-year-old woman, her three children (two men, ages 52 and 44, and a 41-year-old woman), and the 44-year-old's 28-year-old partner. Only the 44-year-old was already known to law enforcement for previous robberies, a detail that did not escape investigators' attention.
The search was extended to the common areas of the building, leading to a further discovery under the stairs, against unknown persons: a Glisenti Brescia pistol with the serial number erased, 15 caliber .44 bullets and 38 caliber .38 bullets.
Finally, in the 28-year-old's nearby home, the Carabinieri found another €1.630 in cash, a BBM pistol without a serial number, and an 11-centimeter-long knife.
The investigations conducted by Carabinieri The investigations into the Arzano case continue unabated. The seized weapons will undergo ballistic tests to determine whether they were used in recent "bloody incidents" or other serious crimes, potentially adding a disturbing layer to a story that remains to be unraveled.
