Castiglione del Genovesi – Mayor Carmine Siano was brutally attacked last night. The mayor of the Salerno town was struck with a stick by a masked man while standing just meters from his home.
He was rushed to Salerno Hospital, where his condition is still being assessed. The Carabinieri have launched an investigation to identify the attacker and reconstruct the circumstances of the attack, which occurred around 8:45 PM.

The incident occurred a short distance from the mayor's residence. According to initial reports, the masked man approached Siano and repeatedly struck him with a stick, causing several injuries. The alarm was raised immediately, and 118 paramedics arrived on the scene, transporting the mayor to the emergency room.
Siano's condition is not serious, but doctors are conducting all necessary tests. Meanwhile, the Carabinieri are gathering witness statements and reviewing video surveillance footage in the area to determine the attacker's identity and motive, which remain unknown at this time.
