On Saturday, December 20th and Sunday, December 21st, the Teatro CortéSe at Viale del Capricorno 4, in the Colli Aminei neighborhood, hosts the debut of "Facciamoci i lazzi nostri," a comedy variety show that brings the authentic soul of vaudeville to the Neapolitan stage. Luciano and Massimo Salvetti star, joined by Angela Russo and Daniele Fiorentino, with a small orchestra conducted by maestro Gennaro Carbone.

The show, directed by Raimondo Salvetti, is not simply a nostalgic homage to vintage variety shows, but a true declaration of love for a genre that has shaped the history of Neapolitan theater. The Salvetti brothers, children of the performing arts who grew up behind the scenes and in strict stage time, revisit the lessons of 20th-century masters: from Totò to Nino Taranto, from Tecla Scarano to Dolores Palumbo, not to mention the great artistic dynasties of the Maggio and De Rege families.

The variety formula

"Facciamoci i lazzi nostri" intertwines sketches, skits, songs, and farce according to the classic formula of Neapolitan variety. At center stage is the live orchestra, an essential element of this tradition, which conveys the authentic sounds of the vaudeville. Naples is a constant presence, evoked through the languages and atmospheres of great Neapolitan drama, with refined references to the poetry of Libero Bovio and the works of Raffaele Viviani.

The Salvettis thus confirm their long-standing commitment to preserving and transmitting a scenic heritage at risk of oblivion. Their artistic style stands out in the contemporary comic theater scene precisely for this ability to bring tradition to life without embalming it, practicing it with artisanal rigor and passion.

Active memory on stage

At the Teatro CortéSe, a variety show is being staged that is an active memory, not a museum. A work that demonstrates how the art of jokes, well-timed quips, and popular acting continues to resonate with today's audiences, maintaining its comic power and theatrical dignity intact.
