Naples - Severe weather is once again affecting Campania, and the Regional Civil Protection Department is wasting no time: a criticality warning has been issued for yellow-level thunderstorms, which will affect the entire coastal area for 24 consecutive hours.
The alert will be effective from midnight today, Monday, December 1st, at 23:59 PM, and will extend until the same time tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2nd. The affected area is vast, spanning the Caserta area to the lower Cilento area.
🌩️ Uncertain Forecast and Sudden Phenomena
According to the bulletin, the current state of meteorological instability presents significant forecast uncertainty. This means that phenomena could manifest themselves suddenly and evolve rapidly.
The main concern is related to thunderstorms which, although localised, could be locally strong and accompanied by:
Strong gusts of wind.
Frequent lightning strikes.
Hail.
These events, given their potential intensity, could cause possible damage to building roofs and temporary structures.
The weather warning specifically concerns several areas of Campania, including those with high population and tourist density:
Zone 1: Campanian Plain, Naples, Islands and Vesuvian Area.
Zone 3: Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Sarno Mountains and Picentini Mountains.
Zone 5: Tusciano and Alto Sele.
Zone 6: Sele Plain and Upper Cilento.
Zone 8: Lower Cilento.
The Civil Protection Department recommends that mayors of the affected areas implement all measures set forth in their municipal emergency plans to mitigate hydrogeological risks and secure the area.
