In the heart of Naples, the Cavone district prepares to reveal its mysteries in a festival finale that celebrates the authenticity and beauty of a city steeped in history, with Maurizio De Giovanni as witness to a love that spans eras and emotions.

Naples – A journey into the hidden and authentic heart of the city, among forgotten warehouses and atmospheres suspended in time, to conclude a successful festival in style.

The "Mysteries of Naples" series, a series of eight guided tours of sacred and mysterious Naples organized by the City's Tourism Department as part of the "See Sacred and Mysterious Naples and Return" program, concludes with an immersion in the Cavone district.

To enrich the latest, fascinating tour, two special appointments with the undisputed protagonist of Neapolitan noir: Maurizio De Giovanni.

The festival, funded by the Campania Region, bids farewell to the public by exploring perhaps the most intact and evocative area of the historic center: the Cavone, between Infrascata, Limpiano, and Pontecorvo.

A place where a vein of underground water flows and time seems to have stopped in the 19th century, among tuff cliffs, warehouses, and ancient Spanish-era military buildings, miraculously spared by the Risanamento (Redevelopment) wave. Guided tours, led by the Il Canto di Virgilio Foundation, are scheduled for Friday, December 26th and Saturday, December 27th at 10:00 a.m., and Sunday, December 28th at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., meeting in Piazzetta Saverio Correra.

"We are proud of this grand finale in the vibrant and lesser-known heart of our city," said Tourism Councilor Teresa Armato. "This series was an act of love for the most authentic Naples.

Here, among warehouses and tuff cliffs, you can breathe in the atmosphere of 19th-century Naples. Plus, we're looking forward to events with Maurizio De Giovanni, which are already captivating hundreds of people.

The events with the writer are the highlight of the closing event. On Saturday, December 27th, from 7:00 PM, at the Teatro Bolivar, De Giovanni will be the protagonist of a double event. It begins with "The Mystery and Sacredness of Love," a conversation with critic and popularizer Stefano Valanzuolo, exploring the most universal emotion in its sacred and everyday nuances.

Following this, the musical theater show "L'antico amore" will be performed, written and performed by De Giovanni with Marianita Carfora, Alfredo Mundo, Alessio Sica, Marco Zurzolo and Rocco Zaccagnino, directed by Annamaria Russo.

Rounding out the emotional journey are two concerts by the Il Canto di Virgilio Foundation: Friday, December 26th at 8:00 PM in the Church of Sant'Anna alle Paludi with Raffaello Converso's "Ch'io moro mirando a te," and the grand finale on Tuesday, December 30th at 12:00 PM in the Scarlatti Hall of the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory with "The Vocal Spirituality of 18th-Century Neapolitan," performed by the young voices of the music institute. A final journey into the most secret corners of a city that never ceases to amaze.

I read about the event in the Cavone neighborhood and it looks very interesting, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend. Naples has so many beautiful places, but it's sometimes difficult to get around. Let's hope there are more events like this in the future.
