The YouPol app is now also available on trains: just one tap is enough to report dangers

Naples – Safety on train tracks and in train parking areas takes a leap forward with the latest evolution of Youpol, the State Police app. Starting today, millions of commuters and occasional travelers have an additional, quick and intuitive tool to report risky situations, critical issues, or suspicious behavior on board trains and inside stations in real time.

The 'Smart' security mechanism

The new update turns citizens into watchful eyes. With a simple tap on their smartphone, users can send geolocated alerts complete with photos, videos, or short text messages.

This geolocation system allows instant access to the Railway Police operations rooms and the relevant police headquarters, enabling immediate assessment of the danger and, above all, timely and targeted intervention.

Youpol is not intended to replace the Single Emergency Number 112, but rather provides a "smart" and direct way to contact people, making safety accessible to the deaf and foreigners thanks to its simple interface and universal language.

Youpol's numbers: a success in numbers

The app's effectiveness is demonstrated by the data collected over the past year. As of December 2024, the platform has handled an impressive volume of requests and reports:

46.877 General requests for help.

24.962 reports of drug dealing.

3.357 Reports of domestic violence.

3.648 Reports of bullying.

The most active user base is adults, particularly those aged 51-60 (approximately 100.000 users), followed by young people aged 18-30 (approximately 20.000). Minors (approximately 5.000) also contribute, demonstrating the app's importance as an intergenerational channel.

Geographically, the app's use is transversal, with the majority of reports coming from both northern and southern cities. On average, the State Police receives 5.650 anonymous reports per month, data that proves crucial for prevention, control, and repression, even without identifying the reporter.

With this extension to travelers, the State Police confirms its commitment to improving mobility safety by opening a direct and intuitive channel with users and strengthening its mission: to make everyone an active participant in daily security and allow the State Police to #betherealways.
