A movie-like robbery of an armored van on the highway nets two million euros.

Reggio Calabria – A cinematic robbery took place this morning at dawn on the A2 "Autostrada del Mediterraneo" motorway, in the stretch between the Scilla and Bagnara junctions, heading north. An armored vehicle belonging to the Sicurtransport company was targeted by an armed gang, who carried out a spectacular and highly organized robbery, netting a loot that, according to initial estimates, is close to two million euros.

The attack began around 6:30 a.m., inside a tunnel. The criminals created a veritable trap for the armored vehicle: several cars were positioned across the roadway and immediately set on fire, completely blocking traffic and preventing any escape route. Nails were also scattered across the asphalt to puncture the tires of any passing vehicles, making any evasive maneuver impossible.

During the attack, several shots were reportedly fired, according to local sources, but no injuries have been reported to the security guards of the armored vehicle or to the drivers. Once the vehicle was immobilized, the bandits reportedly forced the personnel to open the security compartment and stole the bags of cash, then quickly fled before law enforcement arrived.

The Fire Department responded to the scene, extinguishing the burning cars and securing the area, along with State Police patrols, who are conducting surveys and collecting testimonies and images useful for the investigation. Investigators are already reviewing footage from security cameras along the highway and assessing any similarities with past robberies to determine whether the gang specializes in robberies of armored vehicles.

Traffic is severely impacted: light vehicles are required to exit at the Scilla junction, rejoining the highway at Bagnara, while heavy vehicles are temporarily parked at the Campo Calabro junction pending full reopening of the affected section. Traffic remains severely slowed, and long queues are being observed.

The investigation is ongoing and aims to reconstruct every stage of the operation, which appears to have been planned down to the smallest detail: from the choice of time and tunnel, to the arrangement of the torched cars and the nails on the asphalt. It cannot be ruled out that the robbers had precise information on the armored vehicle's movements and the value of the cargo it was carrying.

The cartel countries are no longer interested in us. The criminals have run amok, after all, to arrest them you have to kindly warn them five days in advance. The comedies that make people cry, these people are ruining a country to save themselves.

I don't understand why when the Carabinieri have to go to a family's house to take away their children they go with 5-6 CARS AND ABOUT TWENTY CARABINIERI I WONDER WHY THEY ARE NOT USED TO CHECK THE VALUE CARRIERS EVEN WITH A HELICOPTER?????????

The attacks on armored vehicles fully demonstrate the stupidity that grips this country; people are so stupid they don't understand that the escort shouldn't travel in the same armored van, because it isn't part of the valuables being transported, but should travel in separate vehicles...
