In Bacoli, a routine theft incident turned into a dramatic ambush: two men, surprised by thieves, were injured in a shooting that shocked the community, revealing the unexpected violence that can lie behind an apparent crime.
Bacoli – An attempted robbery at a home on Via Gabriele D'Annunzio turned into a shooting last night, resulting in the wounding of two men and the escape of a gang of at least four criminals.
The Carabinieri of the local station, together with the Operations Section of the Pozzuoli Company, intervened at number 54 after an alarm call.
The incident, still under investigation by investigators, apparently began with the suspicion of a burglary in progress. A 54-year-old man and a 52-year-old acquaintance heard noises coming from the home of the former's son, who was away at the time, and approached to investigate. There, they allegedly surprised the group of thieves leaving the apartment. A violent struggle ensued, during which the criminals opened fire on the two men.
During the frantic escape, one of the thieves reportedly threw the gun at the 54-year-old's face before fleeing with his accomplices in a dark, high-powered car. According to initial reports, the thieves managed to steal money from a safe in the home.
Carabinieri officers from the Naples Provincial Command's Investigative Unit also responded immediately to the scene to conduct forensic analysis. Investigators found and seized a pistol and seven 7.65 caliber shell casings. The weapon will now undergo urgent ballistic tests to determine whether it had been used in other crimes and to attempt to identify the perpetrators through fingerprints.
The 54-year-old and 52-year-old were rushed to Pozzuoli Hospital, where they are currently hospitalized. Their condition, although serious, is not critical, and their lives are not in danger. The investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, is continuing to reconstruct the entire incident and identify the gang members.
They went into action in the middle of the night, as a group, targeting a restaurant they had previously targeted. This is the third time in two years that "Il Rusticone," at Via Atellana 61 in Arzano, has been visited by thieves. There were seven of them, all with their faces covered by balaclavas. A specialized gang and...
