Naples – What was supposed to be a festive evening turned into a nightmare that narrowly avoided tragedy. A 7-year-old boy was injured by a gunshot on Christmas Eve in Pomigliano d'Arco, near Naples.
The child arrived at the emergency room of the Santobono Pediatric Hospital in Naples accompanied by his parents. Doctors, having discovered a grazing wound to his left arm, clearly caused by a bullet, immediately implemented emergency procedures and notified law enforcement.
According to an initial and still fragmentary reconstruction, the incident occurred in Piazza Mercato. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain murky: it's still unclear whether it was a stray bullet fired during the "celebrations" or accidental involvement in a criminal context.
The parents of the injured child have never had any contact with the police. Fortunately, the child's condition is not serious: after the necessary treatment, he was discharged with a seven-day prognosis.
Officers from the Acerra Police Station are now investigating the case, combing the area where the shooting occurred in search of spent bullets or evidence that might help identify whoever pulled the trigger on a night that was supposed to be peaceful.

This is a very sad and worrying situation. I don't understand how a child could be hurt in what should have been a joyful moment. I hope the authorities find those responsible for this serious and absurd event.
