In the heart of Naples, officers from the Vicaria-Mercato police station arrested a 35-year-old Gambian illegal immigrant for drug trafficking in Vico XII Duchesca, highlighting the police's commitment to combating drug dealing in a historically critical area of the city.
Naples – A new blow to drug trafficking in the heart of the city. Yesterday afternoon, officers from the Vicaria-Mercato police station arrested a 35-year-old Gambian citizen with no legal residence in Italy, already known to law enforcement for drug-related offenses.
The territorial control service, part of the extraordinary measures implemented by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat drug dealing and illegal possession of weapons, has turned into a lightning operation.
While patrolling Vico XII Duchesca, in the Maddalena district, the police noticed a suspicious movement: a man, acting wary, was giving something to another individual in exchange for a banknote. Upon seeing the officers, the customer quickly fled.

The intervention was immediate. State Police officers apprehended the alleged dealer, not without encountering brief but determined resistance. When searched, the 35-year-old was found in possession of three methamphetamine pills, three packages of hashish, and €90 in small bills, likely the proceeds of previous sales.
The man, who already had a criminal record for drug possession and resisting arrest, was subsequently taken to prison by order of the judicial authorities. The operation confirms the police's constant vigilance in a historically sensitive area of the city, where extraordinary police operations continue to be deployed to ensure safety and legality.

The arrest of the 35-year-old Gambian seems to me to be a step forward for the safety of Naples. It's important that law enforcement continue to do their job, but social support is also needed to prevent similar situations.
