Naples – The Naples Police Headquarters continues its extraordinary checks in the city's most sensitive areas, such as Porta Nolana and Piazza Mancini, a recurring scene of widespread illegal activity, from the sale of counterfeit products to illegal trading, to health and hygiene violations in markets and commercial establishments.

Yesterday, a joint operation saw officers from the State Police's Vicariate-Mercato Police Station deployed alongside members of the Guardia di Finanza and staff from the ASL Napoli 1 Centro.

The goal: to strengthen the state's presence in a historic yet critical neighborhood, where urban decay and illegal commercial activity pose a constant challenge to law enforcement. The raid's results are significant: 82 people were identified, 40 of whom had criminal records.

One of these was reported for introducing and selling products with false markings, a crime that severely impacts the legal economy and consumer safety. On the traffic front, officers checked eight vehicles, issuing a Highway Code violation.

But attention has also focused on commercial activities: two businesses were scrutinized, with the owners fined administratively for serious hygiene and sanitation deficiencies. The total fines amounted to €3.000, a clear warning against those who endanger public health in an area with a high density of vendors and buyers.

These interventions are part of a broader strategy to combat urban decay, which in recent months has seen similar operations in the same area, resulting in seizures of illegal goods, irregular food, and millions of dollars in fines.

The collaboration between the police, finance authorities, and the local health authority (ASL) demonstrates how only an integrated approach can restore decorum and legality to neighborhoods like Porta Nolana, the beating heart of Neapolitan commerce, which often suffers. Law enforcement officials have announced that they will continue to intensify checks, especially during the holidays, to ensure greater safety for residents and visitors.
