Schola Naturalis, the new cultural project promoted by the Municipality of Boscoreale, stems from the dialogue between man and nature. It aims to become a permanent point of reference in the field of scientific and artistic dissemination.

The initiative, conceived by Pasquale Di Lauro, mayor of Boscoreale, and designed by Claudio Rodolfo Salerno, president of the Institute for the Diffusion of Natural Sciences, is based on a multidisciplinary approach that unites science, art, technology, and humanistic thought.

The stated goal is to build a recognizable local cultural brand, capable of reflecting the profound identity of the Vesuvian landscape and the communities that inhabit it. This journey begins with the cultural valorization of the area and culminates, over time, in an annual scientific and artistic festival, conceived as a space for discussion, experimentation, and participation.

The project will be presented and inaugurated on December 22, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Boscoreale. The heart of the initiative is a multi-venue exhibition, conceived as an immersive and narrative experience, capable of engaging the visitor visually, aurally, and sensorially.

The first installation, "The Stations of Myth," will be located in the cloister of the Town Hall. The exhibition features a series of works accompanied by excerpts from Lucretius's De Rerum Natura, selected by archaeologist and writer Luciana Jacobelli. In dialogue with the classical texts, Antonio Caporaso's photographs of the landscapes of Boscoreale reinforce the connection between ancient thought and contemporary territory.

The exhibition and installations are curated by artists Felix Policastro and Benedetto Longobardi Ruju, who have created a visual and conceptual itinerary designed to stimulate reflection on the relationship between humans and the natural environment. Luigi Buffone, responsible for relations with the local community and local associations, has played a key role in this phase.

The exhibition space also features "Liquid Conversations – The Precious Amphora," a sound installation that stages an imaginary dialogue between Horace, Tibullus, and Martial on the theme of wine. The voice of actress Anita Pagano, intertwined with musical compositions by Lino Monaco and Nicola Buono, creates an evocative soundscape, enhanced by an olfactory intervention by Federico Nappo, recalling scents and evocations of the ancient world.

To complete the project, videomaker Raffaele Riccardi will produce a video documentary featuring interviews with the mayor and institutional representatives, designed as a communication and online dissemination tool to broaden participation and raise the initiative's visibility.
The Stations of Myth thus serve as a bridge between past and future: an ancient dialogue that speaks of sustainability, knowledge, and awareness, offering the public a layered and engaging cultural experience.

The future annual scientific-artistic festival will include:
exhibitions and installations;
performances and readings;
scenic lectures;
theatre, dance and music.

With Schola Naturalis, Boscoreale reclaims the cultural value of its landscape, often damaged and undervalued, yet deeply rooted in its identity. This project aims to generate new cultural and tourism opportunities, restoring dignity and centrality to an area that continues to be a crossroads of history, nature, and thought.
