Brescia – Fear and relief for a 64-year-old woman from Brescia: yesterday, Saturday, December 6, the Carabinieri of the Brescia Company's Operations Section thwarted a scam worth nearly €20.000, identifying and reporting a 24-year-old unemployed man from Caserta.
The woman, a resident of the city, had received a call from a supposed Carabinieri officer. The man convinced her to make an urgent bank transfer to "block fraudulent transactions" on her account. However, thanks to the prompt intervention of the officers and coordination with the bank's Anti-Fraud Office, the transfer was stopped in its tracks and the entire sum was recovered.
Subsequent banking investigations led directly to the alleged perpetrator: a 24-year-old man with no criminal record, resident in the province of Caserta, who was reported at large for attempted fraud. The incident further confirms the effectiveness of the Carabinieri's anti-fraud campaigns, which especially protect the most vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and single women.

This is truly incredible and makes us think about how scammers are becoming increasingly cunning. It's important for people to be wary of such situations and not easily trust unknown calls promising urgent help. Citizen safety must be a priority.
