A Carabinieri operation in Casal di Principe marks a new step in the fight against the Casalesi clan, revealing an intricate system of extortion and drug trafficking that exploits the local economy, demonstrating how organized crime continues to exert profound influence.

Casal di Principe – A new blow to the heart of criminal interests linked to the Casalesi clan.

In the early hours of this morning, Carabinieri officers from the Casal di Principe Company executed a precautionary custody order against five individuals, considered to be seriously suspected, to varying degrees, of Camorra-style association, extortion, fraudulent transfer of assets, fraud, and illicit drug trafficking, crimes aggravated by mafia methods.

The order was issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate, following a long and complex investigative effort conducted between July 2022 and June 2023.

The role of the Casalesi representative

The investigations have allowed us to outline an accusatory framework that revolves around a leading figure of the Casalesi clan, Schiavone faction, who is currently at large.

According to investigators' reconstruction, the suspect was the linchpin of a series of criminal activities aimed at controlling the territory and accumulating significant economic resources.

Debt collection under threat

Among the incidents that emerged was a so-called "debt collection" operation carried out using intimidating methods against the owner of a construction company. The operation was allegedly carried out on behalf of a businessman operating in the construction materials supply sector, also under investigation, in response to non-payment for certain supplies.

Pressure on the dairy company

Particularly serious is the case involving repeated raids on a local dairy farm. On these occasions, the clan member allegedly made extortion demands of between 700 and 800 euros.

As an alternative to payment, the employer would have demanded the employment of the two daughters of the brother-in-law, who had previously died in a work-related accident within the same company, as a form of "compensation" in addition to what is required by law.

Shield companies and insurance scams

The investigations also uncovered the fictitious registration of a car rental company, with operational headquarters in Casal di Principe, formally attributable to a front man but in fact at the disposal of the suspect.

The operation was supposedly aimed at evading any potential asset prevention measures.

At the same time, women's active role in promoting and coordinating a system of insurance fraud in the car insurance sector has emerged, involving multiple individuals and simulating road accidents.

The axis with Secondigliano and drugs

The investigation finally uncovered a criminal alliance with four intermediaries from the Di Lauro clan of Naples Secondigliano, who were also subject to the precautionary measure. The partnership was allegedly aimed at drug trafficking and, during the course of the investigation, has already led to the seizure of one kilogram of cocaine.
