Naples – Christmas Eve will be marked by severe weather across much of Campania. The regional Civil Protection Department has issued a yellow-level weather alert, valid for all of tomorrow, Tuesday, December 23rd, and until early Wednesday, the 24th.
The wave of bad weather, caused by a low pressure system that will initially affect the northern quadrants before moving towards the central-southern part of the region, will bring with it scattered showers and thunderstorms that could become quite intense in some areas.

Risk areas Monitoring by the Regional Functional Centre has identified critical areas, which include almost the entire coastal territory and the surrounding mountainous areas:
Naples and its province: Campanian Plain, Gulf Islands, and the Vesuvian Area.
Coastal and mountainous areas: Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Sarno Mountains, Picentini Mountains, Sele Plain, and the entire Cilento area.

Interior: Upper Volturno and Matese, Tusciano and Upper Sele.
Potential hazards Despite the "Yellow" level, high levels of concern remain due to the fragile state of the territory. The Civil Protection Department warns of the risk of localized flooding, rising river levels, and dangerous water flow on roads. Particular caution is advised due to the risk of landslides and falling rocks, which could occur even in the absence of prolonged rainfall due to soil saturation.

Appeal to Municipalities: In view of the impending worsening of the situation, the regional authority has invited the mayors of the affected areas to activate their Municipal Operations Centers (COCs). Administrations are required to implement all preventive measures envisaged in the civil protection plans to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of citizens during the pre-Christmas period.
