Preparations for New Year's Eve have turned into a nightmare for two Irpinia business owners, who have been targeted by the Guardia di Finanza. Just hours before New Year's Eve, the Guardia di Finanza (Italian Finance Police) of the Avellino Provincial Command seized approximately 100 illegally held fireworks from two businesses in the province.
The operation, coordinated by the Ariano Irpino Fire Company and the Baiano Police Station, led to the discovery of an explosive situation in the shops in Ariano and Mugnano del Cardinale. The fireworks were stored in extremely dangerous conditions: haphazardly stacked alongside Christmas decorations, plastic materials, stationery, and other highly flammable products.
Unprotected firecrackers and fire risk
The most critical situation involved some individually sold fireworks, removed from the original packaging that was supposed to protect the fuses from accidental detonations. This illegal practice transformed stores into veritable powder kegs, putting the lives of employees and customers at risk.

Finance police classified the storage methods as "lethal" due to the high fire risk. All seized material was handed over to a company specializing in the storage of explosives, and the two perpetrators were reported to the judicial authorities.
Intensified checks for the holidays
The operation is part of the enhanced security measures implemented by the Guardia di Finanza and the Avellino Prefecture to combat the sale of dangerous products during the holidays. Throughout December, the Guardia di Finanza (Italian Finance Police) have already seized other explosive materials that did not comply with public safety regulations.
Checks will continue in the coming hours to ensure a safe New Year's Eve and prevent incidents related to the improper use of fireworks.

This article is very interesting, but I wonder how it's possible that two stores have so many fireworks stored in such a dangerous manner. Safety regulations must be observed at all times, especially during the holidays.
