An unauthorized workshop transformed into an illegal storage facility for hazardous waste. This is what the Caserta State Police discovered as part of their extraordinary "Terra dei fuochi" operation, aimed at protecting health and combating environmental crimes related to illegal waste disposal. During an inspection, officers from the Casal di Principe police station found used oil, paint, and mechanical components inside the body shop, abandoned without any classification and in complete absence of storage regulations.
The workshop was operating without a permit and was managing its waste irregularly. For this reason, the operators ordered the precautionary seizure of the business and the equipment found. The owner was fined more than twenty thousand euros.
At the same time, the Caserta Police Headquarters' Anti-Crime Division examined the documents relating to recent reports and seizures made by law enforcement to assess potential preventive measures. At the conclusion of the investigation, the police commissioner issued five oral warnings and a mandatory expulsion order from the municipality of Orta di Atella to individuals believed to be involved in unauthorized waste management and the dumping of non-hazardous waste.
During the checks, vehicles loaded with bags containing household waste, construction waste, and packaging plastic were also intercepted, with over 150 kilograms of material seized and destined for proper disposal. This marks a new front in the investigation into illegal waste management in an area where every environmental violation has direct consequences for public health and safety.
