Caserta – A dramatic scene occurred this morning in front of the Confindustria Caserta headquarters: two longtime USB representatives, Michele Madonna and Pasquale Zeno, chained themselves to the building's gates in protest against what they call a "real witch hunt" against union members at the former Jabil plant in Marcianise, now managed by TMA. Madonna, a regional USB manager, was fired just a few days ago by the new owners; Zeno had suffered the same fate months earlier.
The two, looking tired but determined, began their action shortly before 12:30 p.m., watched by dozens of former colleagues and workers who had gathered in solidarity. "We are here to denounce the climate of terror that TMA has created in the plant," said a USB spokesperson present on the scene. "Anyone who raises their head will be kicked out."
It's pure anti-union repression." The protest, promoted by the USB Confederazione Campania, is still ongoing at the time of writing. Law enforcement is on site, traffic is slow on Viale Ellittico, but the road that hosts the headquarters of Caserta industrialists is closed. The issue of the former Jabil-TMA factory is thus back in the spotlight after months of tension, strikes, and reports of union rights violations. The workers promise: "We won't back down an inch."
