In Casoria, a 24-year-old man was arrested after showing up at the police station to sign in with a loaded pistol hidden in his pants, prompting the intervention of the Carabinieri due to a strong odor of marijuana; the incident raises questions about security and compliance.

Casoria– A combination of recklessness and defiance of the authorities led to his immediate arrest. Gennaro Esposito, 24, already subject to the mandatory reporting requirement at the Arpino di Casoria station, appeared before the Carabinieri yesterday to fulfill his daily duty.

However, the young man did more than sign the register: he was hiding a loaded gun on his person.

It wasn't the weapon that initially aroused the officers' suspicions, but rather the strong odor of marijuana emanating from the young man's clothing. The immediate search led to a discovery far more serious than drug possession: tucked into the waistband of his pants, Esposito was hiding a Tokarev pistol with the serial number removed.

The weapon, a model known for its firepower, was ready for use with a magazine inserted and two 7,63 caliber bullets. The Carabinieri immediately seized the gun for subsequent ballistic tests to determine whether it had been used in recent violent incidents. The 24-year-old was returned to prison, where he remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

I don't understand how a young man could carry a gun so prominently, especially in a public place. The situation is very worrying and raises concerns about safety in these places; there should be more checks.
