Naples – Restoration work continues on Castel dell'Ovo, one of the city's most iconic monuments. The external scaffolding has recently been removed and the restoration of the facades along the internal walkways has been completed, a milestone in the overall project, as highlighted by Palazzo San Giacomo.
The project, financed with FSC (Development and Cohesion Fund) funds for a total of 8 million euros, has entered an advanced phase: the first two lots have been completed, while the third and final lot is expected to be completed by early 2026.
Mayor Gaetano Manfredi reaffirmed the city administration's commitment to protecting and enhancing historical and cultural assets, highlighting Castel dell'Ovo's strategic role as a tourist and cultural attraction and a symbol of Naples' identity.
At the same time, planning is underway for the reef resurfacing project to protect Ramaglietto, costing approximately €2 million and funded by the Metropolitan City of Naples. The project aims to strengthen the safety and stability of the structure, contributing to the preservation of the area's historical and landscape heritage.
The Municipality has also planned to use an additional €4 million from existing budget loans to complete some internal rooms and upgrade the lighting along the paths. Work will begin in 2026 with the goal of improving the site's usability for residents and tourists.
According to the administration, these interventions not only allow for the preservation of the building, but also enhance safety and the quality of hospitality, in line with the city's cultural and tourism development strategy.
