In Castellammare di Stabia, a law enforcement operation seized a car wrecker, revealing twelve stolen car engines and spare parts with defaced registration numbers, highlighting a serious problem related to stolen vehicle trafficking and illegal waste disposal.
Castellammare di Stabia has once again come under the spotlight of law enforcement for an operation aimed at combating illegal activities related to waste management and the trafficking of stolen vehicles and components.
As part of a broader strategy to monitor commercial businesses operating in the waste storage, recycling, and disposal sector—with particular attention to the provinces of Naples and Caserta—the State Police has intensified checks on car wreckers.
During these checks, officers from the Naples Highway Police, in collaboration with the Castellammare di Stabia Police Station, inspected an authorized car dismantling yard operating in the municipality, which also has a sales outlet for the sale of used car parts.
The investigations revealed a far more serious situation than expected. Twelve engines from stolen vehicles were found and seized within the two businesses, as well as numerous vehicle doors from which the "identicar" identification tag, essential for traceability of spare parts, had been removed. In light of these findings, both businesses were seized.
The vast quantity of material present on the site made an immediate and complete investigation impossible. For this reason, further investigations are currently underway to determine the origin of dozens of other engines and numerous spare parts of various types stored within the area.
A stolen vehicle with a counterfeit chassis was also located in the scrapyard. At the same time, operators found several criminal and administrative violations related to non-compliance with regulations regarding the storage and proper disposal of hazardous waste.
At the end of the operation, the owners of the two businesses and the owner of the vehicle with the altered chassis were reported to the judicial authorities. At the same time, administrative fines totaling approximately twelve thousand euros were imposed. Investigations are continuing to clarify the entire supply chain of the seized material and to determine any additional responsibilities.

Honor to the police
It's incredible how much traffic in stolen vehicles and waste there is in Castellammare. But I don't understand why so many resources are needed to control just one car wrecker when there are so many other problems out there.
