Mayor Vincenzo Servalli has declared a day of mourning for the entire day today, Monday, December 29th. This formal, yet deeply felt, act demonstrates the institutions' and citizens' solidarity with the woman's family and reiterates their firm rejection of all forms of gender-based violence.
Anna Tagliaferri's coffin will arrive at Cava de' Tirreni Cathedral at 8:30 a.m., where the chapel of rest has been set up to allow residents a final moment of reflection. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m.
The provisions of the Municipality
The mayoral ordinance includes stringent measures to ensure the climate of respect due to the tragedy:
Flags at half-mast: Flags on public buildings will remain lowered until 14:00 PM.
Events suspended: No recreational or leisure activities are allowed throughout the morning.
Call on businesses: The administration has appealed to businesses, political organizations, and social organizations to suspend or limit their operations during the funeral, as a sign of their condolences.
"We invite all fellow citizens to express their respect and sympathy," the City Council statement reads. The city is therefore preparing to embrace a reflective silence as Anna's body crosses the cathedral threshold for the final time.
