One hundred and three complaints filed against the Maradona Stadium in 2025: the Naples Police Headquarters' findings.

Smoke bombs, knives, climbing over and illegal parking attendants: strict controls to ensure safety, but critical issues still emerge among fans and those around the stadium.

Napoli The Naples Police Headquarters has released the report on public order and safety measures carried out in 2025 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, home of SSC Napoli, during all national and international competitions.

A year of intense interventions which led to 103 complaints for crimes that have activated the procedure for the imposition of the Daspo (Prohibition of Access to Sporting Events).In detail, the complaints mainly concern:

  • 29 subjects for bypassing the dividers between sectors;
  • 34 for lighting and throwing smoke bombs;
  • 6 for possession of prohibited fireworks;
  • 15 for possession of objects capable of causing offence (including knives, knuckledusters, blank-firing guns, laser pointers, plastic pipes and wooden sticks);
  • 10 for resisting a public official;
  • 6 for possession of banners with insulting phrases or incitement to violence;
  • 2 for impersonation;
  • 1 for obscene acts in a public place.

A single arrest was made for resisting a public official associated with damage to public administration property.In addition to the criminal charges, law enforcement agencies have raised 407 administrative sanctions:

  • 108 for violations of the regulations for the use of the sports facility;
  • 158 for illicit possession of narcotic substances for personal use;
  • 141 for illegally practicing parking (102 of these people were reported as repeat offenders).

Not only inside the stadium: protests have been held near the facility 2.334 violations of the Highway Code, with the removal of 1.872 vehiclesNumerous administrative seizures of unauthorized drinks and gadgets were made, while the closure of an irregular commercial activity was ordered..

The findings demonstrate ongoing prevention and repression efforts, in line with the overall commitment of the Naples Police Headquarters, which issued a total of 321 sports-related bans in 2025.
A strong signal against the illegality and degradation that still plague stadium games, despite the absence of serious incidents of mass violence.The authorities emphasize that the monitoring effort will continue with the same intensity into the new year, to ensure all fans—Neapolitans and visitors—have a safe and peaceful experience at the Maradona Stadium.

The article shows that there were many problems at the stadium, but I don't know if the measures are sufficient. Perhaps more control and prevention are needed to prevent similar incidents from happening again. Let's hope next season is better.
