It was a turbulent night in Cercola, where Carabinieri officers from the local station arrested Pasquale Arianiello, 20, a native of Naples and already known to law enforcement. The young man attempted to speed away when he encountered the patrol, but his escape attempt lasted only moments.
The officers caught up with him and arrested him shortly thereafter. During the search, they discovered nine doses of narcotics, including marijuana and hashish, hidden in his clothing. He also had €410 in his pockets, deemed consistent with drug dealing.
"The money and drugs were seized," the Carabinieri reported, having arrested the 20-year-old, who is now awaiting trial. The operation is part of intensified nighttime patrols to combat drug trafficking in the municipalities surrounding the Vesuvius area.
