Casavatore – The final event of the “Casavatore FilmLab – Education and Cinema for Growing Together” project will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, December 30, at 4:00 PM in the auditorium of the “Nicola Romeo” Comprehensive Institute in Casavatore – located on Via San Pietro.

This event was organized by the Municipality of Casavatore as part of its social and educational activities for children between the ages of 9 and 15 living in the municipality, in collaboration with the L'uomo e il Legno social cooperative and the Università Popolare per lo Sport e il Terzo Settore, an amateur sports and social promotion association.

During forty hours of workshops, film clubs, and field trips, approximately thirty young people from Casavatore—accompanied by staff from the two third-sector organizations that oversaw the project—not only deepened their understanding of the area but also wrote and shot a short film entirely in Casavatore, which will be screened at the event.

The story revolves around the problems but also the excellence offered by the municipal territory, in a push for initiative that will lead an undisciplined class of students to discuss the future of their school, simultaneously translating problems and solutions throughout the municipal territory.

A starting point for doing more and better for your city and for your own little student world. The meeting at the auditorium of the "Nicola Romeo" High School will be attended by the mayor of Casavatore, Fabrizio Celaj, the councilor for social and youth policies, Vincenza Esposito, and the headmaster of the "Romeo" High School, Professor Maria Evelina Megale, along with all the staff and all the young people participating in the initiative.

The project will be explained by Roberto Iavarone, head of the General Affairs and Human Services Department of the Municipality of Casavatore; by Dr. Francesca Vitale, Human Services Officer; and by Dr. Rita Caprio, project coordinator and president of the L'Uomo e il Legno social cooperative.

They will be joined by Dr. Silvestro Marino, director of the film sector at the People's University for Sport and the Third Sector, and Dr. Maria Luisa Lopresto, coordinator of field trips for L'Uomo e il Legno. They will discuss the young people's experience in the world of cinema, filmmaking techniques, and the opportunities for personal and collective growth for the young people involved.

The students themselves will have the opportunity to recount the best moments of the experience and the thrill of being on the film set—together with Antonio Forleo, cameraman for L'Uomo e il Legno, and Maestro Domenico Fontanella, director of photography at the Università Popolare per lo Sport e il Terzo Settore—sharing anecdotes and curiosities before the actual screening of the short film and its backstage footage.

The event—free and open to all—will conclude with the awarding of certificates to the young participants and a buffet, a moment of conviviality and celebration, to celebrate a project that brought together art, education, and community. The event will be introduced by Dr. Gianrolando Scaringi, president of the People's University for Sport and the Third Sector and a journalist for Il Mattino.

Tomorrow's event looks very interesting and useful for the kids. It's great to see how the municipality and the associations are working together to offer opportunities to young people. We hope there will be many participants.
