HERCULANEUM – The Virtual Archaeological Museum opens its doors to the brightest time of the year with "MAV Christmas 2025–2026," a program that from December 11th to January 5th promises a free journey through art, entertainment, and enchanting atmospheres. "A month packed with events dedicated to families, children, and all those who wish to experience the magic of Christmas in a unique cultural setting," explains the Museum, which for the occasion is preparing to become a space for celebration, creativity, and participation.
The program kicks off on December 11th with the inauguration of the multimedia installation "Rifiutazione," created by Gianluca Pompilio and Gioacchino Mazzocco, a work that immediately introduces the heart of the artistic experimentation proposed by MAV. The opening, at 6:00 pm, will be accompanied by an aperitif for the public.
The square in front of the Museum will come alive two days later, when children can deliver their letters to Santa Claus in a festive atmosphere of games and entertainment. On December 14th, street artists will transform the indoor and outdoor spaces into a laboratory of wonder, with performances designed to engage all ages.
On December 20th, the Christmas spirit kicks into high gear with a morning dedicated to the "Christmas School," featuring theater performances and workshops that will reveal to children the secrets of Santa's helpers thanks to the company "...ma dove vivere i cartoni?" (...but where do cartoons live?). The following day, the puppet shows, a MAV classic, return, while on December 22nd, the Museum will transform into a veritable Village of Wonders, populated by sleighs, inflatables, Christmas houses, and street performers, culminating in a grand musical show that will imbue the Museum with a fairytale atmosphere.
On December 23rd, music will take center stage with "La nuova dolce vita," a concert by Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi and the Solisti Aquilani Quintet, a journey from Italian cinema to the sounds of Astor Piazzolla. Admission is free while seats last.
After Christmas, on December 27th, a theatrical version of "The Nutcracker" will be performed, accompanied by interactive workshops, while on December 28th, puppets will once again take center stage in a day designed for the whole family. The program concludes on January 5th at 11 a.m. with "Uncle Babba's Little Theater," a show combining glove puppets and actors, anticipating the arrival of Epiphany in a spirit of shared play.
All events will be held at the Herculaneum Virtual Archaeological Museum, at Via IV Novembre 44, with free admission. For further information, please write to events@museomav.it.
