An action-movie-esque chase rocked the streets of Castel Volturno, revealing a climate of tension and police control, while a 39-year-old Romanian man went on the run, marking a new chapter in local security operations.

Castel Volturno – A movie-like chase through the streets between Castel Volturno and Mondragone ended with two charges filed and a seizure. The perpetrator was a 39-year-old Romanian man, resident in Mondragone, who, upon seeing the Carabinieri, accelerated instead of stopping, sparking a chase that lasted approximately two kilometers.

The incidents stem from a territorial patrol conducted by the Carabinieri of the Mondragone Territorial Unit. The officers were patrolling Via Stanislao Lista when they noticed a BMW with two people inside. When ordered to stop, the driver stepped on the accelerator, sparking a chase that wound through the local streets.

The chase ended on Viale Antonella, in the municipality of Mondragone, where the 39-year-old abandoned his car and attempted to flee on foot. The Carabinieri managed to apprehend both fugitives and conducted a search.

The operation took a heavy toll on the man: he was charged at large with resisting a public officer, refusing to submit to a breathalyzer and drug test, and for driving without a license repeatedly over the past two years. The passenger, a 35-year-old woman from Mondragone, was also charged with resisting a public officer.

During the search, hashish weighing 0,51 grams was found on the woman. For this reason, she was reported to the Caserta Prefecture for possession of narcotics for personal use.

The BMW was seized and handed over to a licensed company. This operation is part of a series of targeted operations to combat local crime, which law enforcement agencies have intensified in the Domitian area.

The chase described in the article was a very strange and worrying event for the community. Security in the area appears to be a serious problem, but I hope law enforcement continues to work to improve the situation.
