Naples – A theft foiled in real time thanks to technology and lightning-fast coordination between law enforcement agencies. Two young men fled onto the tracks of Naples Piazza Garibaldi station, stopped by the Railway Police while attempting to disappear with a valuable electric bicycle stolen a few hours earlier in the Caserta area.

The incident occurred on Thursday. It all began in Capodrise, in the province of Caserta, where a young man noticed his e-bike missing. Instead of panicking, the victim quickly checked the app connected to the GPS tracker installed on the bike. The signal was unmistakable: the bike was not only moving, but traveling quickly along the train line toward Naples.

The young man immediately contacted the Caserta Police Headquarters, providing the signal's exact location and direction. The operations room handled the emergency with surgical precision, alerting colleagues at the Campania Railway Police Department and allowing them to pinpoint the exact train the suspects were traveling on.

The trap was sprung as the train arrived at the Piazza Garibaldi underground station. Railway police officers, acting quickly and discreetly to avoid alarming commuters, intercepted the two individuals as they disembarked from the carriage. They are two 19-year-olds of Tunisian origin, and were found in possession of the bicycle, still intact.

The two young men were charged at large with receiving stolen goods. The electric bicycle was recovered and returned to its rightful owner, who was able to get it back thanks to his quick reflexes and the effective operational network between Caserta and Naples.
