Naples – The Campania Region's Civil Protection Department has issued a yellow-level weather alert with severe hydrogeological conditions, effective from midnight today until 2:00 PM tomorrow, Thursday, December 4th. The bulletin predicts heavy rainfall, including thunderstorms, especially in the region's inland areas.
The areas most affected are Upper Irpinia and Sannio, Tusciano and Alto Sele, Tanagro, and Lower Cilento. The storms, which can be very strong in places, could cause hydraulic and hydrogeological hazards: flooding, inundations, rockfall, and landslides, especially in already fragile or unstable terrain.
Municipalities have been advised to activate their Municipal Operations Centers and implement all necessary measures, both structural and non-structural, to prevent and mitigate the effects of the forecasted phenomena. The Regional Operations Center urges the public to pay close attention to official updates and warnings.
