Not a moment's respite for Montefredane. Just after midnight, the earth shook again with a magnitude 3.0 tremor, startling much of the Irpinia community. The force of the explosion abruptly shattered the carefree spirit of the past few days, those dedicated to the "Fiano & Fuoco" festival, which had brought enthusiasm, visitors, and the flavor of local traditions back to the village.

"It was just after midnight when we felt yet another earthquake. There was great fear, especially since it occurred forty days after the tremors of October 28th and 29th," Mayor Ciro Aquino declared when announcing the results of the initial inspections to the press.

The mayor explained that he immediately took action to monitor the situation: "The organizational team was already on high alert. Volunteers from the Misericordia and the Red Cross arrived at the City Hall immediately. We ordered the schools to close as a precaution while inspections of public buildings began."

In recent weeks, the administration has installed new seismic monitoring stations, now also operational at Caracciolo Castle, to ensure more thorough monitoring of seismic activity. This initiative is part of the prevention and rapid response plan developed following the seismic sequence at the end of October.

"It's natural for residents to be concerned," Aquino admits, "but we're in constant contact with the Prefecture and institutions. At this time, there have been no reports of damage to people or property." However, a climate of apprehension remains, fueled by the recurrence of the tremors.

The mayor hopes the next few hours will bring calm: "We trust that the situation will return to normal and that schools can reopen tomorrow without any problems."

It's truly unfortunate that after such a beautiful festival as Fiano e Fuoco, there are now earthquake concerns. People are afraid, and rightly so. Let's hope everything returns to normal soon and there's no damage.
