Monza– "If you don't pay, your son will go to jail." With this threat, repeated in numerous and insistent phone calls, they managed to get the door of a 73-year-old woman from Monza to open. It was the beginning of a sophisticated psychological trap, culminating in the theft of €400 worth of jewelry and, subsequently, the investigations that led to the arrest of two serial thieves.

The arrest and the organization

In the early hours of Tuesday, December 2, officers from the Monza Police Headquarters' Flying Squad executed a precautionary house arrest order against two Italians, a 32-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman.

The order, issued by the investigating judge at the request of the Monza prosecutor's office, charges the couple with nine residential burglaries in Lombardy, Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta, Friuli, and Tuscany, for a total estimated haul of over €550 in cash, jewelry, and watches.

The investigation, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office, however, reveals a broader picture: the two men were not acting alone, but rather held a clearly defined role in a more complex criminal organization. They were responsible for carrying out the robberies and subsequently "monetizing" the stolen goods, relying on several rental cars, sometimes provided to accomplices who traveled specifically from Campania.

The pilot coup in Monza

It all began with a massive scam on the 73-year-old woman from Monza, late last year. The scheme was ruthlessly precise. One of the men, posing as a friend of the woman's son, bombarded her landline with calls demanding a wire transfer of €7. When the woman replied that she didn't have the money, the men threatened: find the money, or her son would end up in prison.

In subsequent calls to the victim's cell phone, the scammers became skillfully inquisitive. They managed to uncover the existence of valuable jewelry and even extract the victim's home address and intercom number. Shortly thereafter, a man showed up at the door.

Having entered the house, under the pretext of seizing the assets to "save" his son, he managed to extract the combination to the safe. Taking advantage of a moment of despair, he emptied it.

The Investigations: From the Luxury Trolley to the Train to Naples

Immediately after the report was filed, the police reviewed surveillance camera footage in the area and identified a suspicious vehicle, a gray Volkswagen T-Roc, fleeing the scene of the theft with two people inside. The investigation narrowed when the same vehicle was identified in a similar incident in Friuli, where investigators had already targeted the two men, aged 32 and 34.

The investigation reconstructed an escape almost live: the morning after the Monza robbery, the man had an accomplice accompany him to Milan Central Station and boarded a high-speed train to Naples. He had a trolley with him, which instead of clothes contained the entire loot of jewelry.

The modus operandi: the mask of authority

The underlying theme of all the heists was deception based on false authority. The two men acted by impersonating a threatening lawyer or a fake police officer, a script aimed at confusing and intimidating victims, often elderly and vulnerable. They didn't hesitate to personally visit the scene, with the woman often acting as a lookout outside the homes, near the rental car.

The couple was also caught red-handed in early 2025 outside a home in Monza, following the exact same pattern: he inside committing the theft, she guarding the car. This serial and methodical activity has now been halted by house arrest, carried out in Milan and Cinisello Balsamo, while investigations continue to uncover the entire criminal network.

This must not be a crime of fraud or something else that the government invents, it must be a crime of robbery, 8 years in prison without parole

What disgusting people, for four criminals, a population of 4 million inhabitants between Naples and the province, one must read generalized nastiness, leave them inside and never let them out again!

You piece of shit thieves, every time you steal from poor people, you have to die on the spot (you are piece of shit and you will remain piece of shit)

Sasa Caso would be a tragedy if nothing happened, but not at your level! We don't want to go ahead of you here right now! Best wishes.

Antonio Battiston couldn't wait to spew hatred. We ourselves, respectable Neapolitans, are victims and we distance ourselves from these people.
