NAPLES – Last night, officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Aid arrested a 17-year-old Neapolitan for illegal possession of a weapon and charged him with receiving stolen goods. It all began when two young men on a motorcycle drove the wrong way down Via Santa Caterina a Formiello, ignoring the officers' order to stop and attempting to escape.
A chase ensued through the neighborhood streets, during which the passenger lost control of the vehicle at the corner of Via Salita Pontenuovo and Via Cesare Rosaroll, crashing along with the driver. Officers responded immediately, detaining the minor and recovering a 9mm Walther pistol with two rounds of ammunition, which the young man had attempted to free himself during his escape. Subsequent investigations confirmed that the weapon had been stolen.
The motorcycle driver managed to escape, while the minor was arrested, demonstrating the police's commitment to preventing armed crime and ensuring road and urban safety.
