Naples – The Naples Juvenile Prosecutor's Office has ordered the arrest of four boys aged between 15 and 17, believed to be involved in a serious assault on 18-year-old footballer Bruno Petrone, with no criminal record, which occurred on the night of December 27 in the Baretti di Chiaia area, a popular youth nightlife spot, in the presence of numerous witnesses.

The measure was carried out by the Naples Central Operations Unit.

According to investigators' reconstruction, the Carabinieri of the Naples Central Company intervened immediately after the incident and began a thorough investigation, gathering witness statements, conducting on-site checks, and acquiring images from public and private video surveillance systems.

Analysis of the footage, investigative sources explain, allowed them to reconstruct the dynamics of the attack and trace the mopeds used by the group to reach the area.

Yesterday evening, five minors showed up at the Pastrengo barracks, headquarters of the Naples Provincial Carabinieri Command, where they were questioned at length by the magistrate of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.

Following the interrogations, four of them were detained and transferred to the Colli Aminei First Reception Center, pending a validation hearing. The fifth minor's status is currently under investigation.

The incident is part of growing pressure on nightlife security, where predatory crimes and gang attacks—often triggered by trivial motives or copycat tactics—are a critical issue reported by residents, operators, and law enforcement.

The city center, especially on weekends and holidays, becomes a hub of crowds, alcohol, rapid scooter travel, and "dates" arranged via social media: factors that can turn an argument into a fight in a matter of seconds, also complicating immediate intervention.

On the youth violence front, Naples – like other large cities – has seen ongoing concern over the decreasing age limit for street crimes and the increase in aggressive behavior in public settings.

Investigators often emphasize two elements: the speed with which the groups move (also thanks to mopeds) and the role of images, which have become crucial for identification and verification, especially when the attacks occur among large numbers of people but with very little immediate cooperation due to fear or reticence.

The investigation continues to clarify individual roles and responsibilities in detail and to define any additional profiles, also in light of the footage acquired and the statements made during interrogations.

Meanwhile, the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office is awaiting validation of the arrest before the competent judge.
