The Naples State Police have executed a pretrial detention order against a man believed to be linked to the Amato-Pagano Camorra clan. The suspect is charged with illegal possession of a firearm and receiving stolen goods, crimes aggravated by his aiding and abetting the criminal organization's activities.
The operation, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate at the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, was conducted by investigators from the Naples Flying Squad with the support of their colleagues from the Lecce Police Headquarters. The precautionary measure was issued by the Court of Naples – Preliminary Investigations Section.
The blitz of September 16
The arrest represents the culmination of a complex investigation launched by the Naples Flying Squad. On September 16, 2025, during a complex judicial police raid aimed at busting an extortion ring, officers arrested the man while he was being held in pre-trial detention for attempted extortion aggravated by mafia methods. The crime involved pressure applied to a business that operated a car wash and a car dealership.
During the search, officers discovered that the suspect was concealing a standard pistol loaded with six bullets. Further investigation revealed that the weapon had come from a previous theft, thus also establishing the crime of receiving stolen goods.
The operation is part of a broader crackdown on the activities of the Amato-Pagano clan, a historic Camorra organization active in the area north of Naples, which has been targeted by law enforcement for years for its territorial control through extortion, illicit trafficking, and intimidation.
