Naples – Tensions erupted last night in the Vasto and Arenaccia neighborhoods, near Piazza Nazionale, where a man broke into an apartment occupied by an elderly woman and her daughter.

It was around five in the morning when the daughter, awakened by some suspicious noises, sensed the presence of a stranger in the house. Realizing the intrusion, she began screaming, scaring the man away. Caught by surprise, he attempted to escape. The woman chased him to the stairs of the building, forcing him to flee.

The dynamics of the incident were confirmed by images from the condominium's video surveillance cameras.

During the attack, the intruder managed to steal a bag containing money and personal belongings. Still shaken, the victim recounted the incident: "Only because I'm a light sleeper did I realize what was happening. I screamed and instinctively chased after him. It was a terrifying experience."

The woman emphasizes that the incident is not an isolated case, denouncing a growing insecurity in the area: "We live in constant fear. It's frustrating to know that those who commit crimes like this seem to be able to act without consequences. We are honest people, we work and pay taxes, but we often feel abandoned."
