Naples – The wedding ring was missing from the finger of a 76-year-old woman who died Friday morning at San Paolo Hospital in Naples.

This incident prompted Lucia Riccio's family to contact Green-Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, demanding that the ring be returned and that immediate investigations be initiated.

The woman was hospitalized in the emergency department. After her death, her body was transferred to the mortuary, where relatives came to pay their last respects. It was then that her son noticed that her wedding ring was missing from her left hand.

Searches conducted both in the ward of origin and in the mortuary were fruitless. No one among the staff or personnel present reported having seen or removed the ring. Yet, as some photographs sent to the parliamentarian show, the marks left by the wedding ring were still evident on the woman's hand.

"We arrived about two hours after we were notified of my mother's death," says her son, Marco Miraglia, "and after spending a few moments with her, we immediately noticed the ring was missing. We asked the ward if they had removed it, but no one knew anything. The mortuary also had no record of anything. The security guards advised us to file a report."

The funeral will be held this afternoon. Immediately afterward, the family will file a formal complaint, requesting the release of surveillance camera footage. "We ask that the wedding ring be returned," Miraglia concludes. "It holds immense sentimental value for my father."

MP Borrelli also weighed in on the matter: "I sincerely hope that whoever took the ring will have a surge of dignity and return it immediately.

Otherwise, proceed without hesitation to check the CCTV footage to identify who approached the woman that morning. If the theft is confirmed, it would be an act I have no hesitation in calling despicable.

The MP assured that he will follow the case "until the wedding ring is returned to Mrs. Lucia's husband."

I don't know if this is a common case or a unique situation. It's incredible that such a valuable item could disappear without a trace. The family deserves clear and swift answers.
